 THE ANIMATICS FOR OUR SONG!

We believe that we have done this sucessfully some of the shots could of been cropped so that it only shows the picture which are critiques we have noted to ourselves but apart from that we worked hard on it and despite the few things weve spotted we are proud to of finished and uploaded it.

Watching the video we can see that it does reference Goodwin’s theory of music videos in some ways. We have included relationship between music and the visuals for example when the drumming solo happens it cuts to a shot of Joely playing the drums and many other shots showing this theoretical element. The whole video will be rock pop genre related. There is multiple close-ups of Megan as the main artist but also close-ups here and there of all the band members. The close-ups of Megan are mainly whilst she is singing.  Although we haven’t used voyeurism in the video as its not the type of thing we are looking to portray of the band.

Looking at the video we have also spotted that there is no direct intertextual referencing within the video and we are hoping to be able to do this when filming as we think it would be a nice touch however we will have to do some researching in how we can do this.

Journal

Tick list of what has been achieved this week .......

We worked well as a team after appointing jobs to each person and worked hard together in order to be successful in our story boards and animatics. It has been a good weeks in terms of being up to date with what we should be doing.

  • We have completed our storyboard.
  •  We have continued and completed our animatics video meaning that we met our aim and it will son be uploaded to the blogg in my next post.
  • We have discussed as a group what are aims and targets may be for the week ahead.
  • We have brainstormed locations.

Here are some shots we've taken out of the animatics to show examples of the types of frames that will be using and how they create meaning.

This shot is a close up shot of Megan singing fitting in with Goodwins theory. It establishes that she is the lead singer of the band and focuses on her main talent which of course is to sing. By making eye contact with the camera it means the audience can feel a connection to her and can really connect with the words she is singing. It makes the audience think that she may be singing to them therefore creating a more personal level with the audience.

This shot is of me it is a mid shot and the reason for this is to show this musical talent within the band which would be the bass guitar, by using the mid shot it focuses on not only the band member but also the instrument. Not making eye contact with the camera but looking down playing shows the passion for the music and how I am getting into my role in the band.

This long shot is to portray the band as a whole. In the majority of rock/pop videos have performance elements and this is our performance part of the video. It will be at the chorus part of the song and shows the audience a full view of the band as a whole the talents they have and captures the style /band image they are portraying which then gives a sense of genre.

Storyboards

STORY BOARDS !

Within the making of these story boards we have carefully thought about and discussed each shot, how it will be framed, what will be in the frame and the reasons behind the decisions we have made.

There is over 90 frames in the storyboard, this is mainly because of how fast paced our song is and we wanted the video to fit with the pace of the song. We need to follow  them whilst filming as it will make it significantly easier to have the storyboards to follow. Although during filming there may be things we think work better than what we originally have drawn but each step will be recorded to the blog. We wanted to portray the ideas we have in these story boards and the colours, frames each play a part in showing each band member in a rocky, edgy but fun way, establishing the genre and showing that it is not a mainstream band but in fact and Indie pop/rock band.

After all participating in the making of the storyboards we have successfully completed them and our next step is to upload the Animatics created from the storyboards onto our blogg.
